It's the shoes

Chris Sheridan's chat today included an interesting bit of info on part of the reason why Yi's camp wanted him in a large market:

One aspect of the story that I feel may be impacting the whole Yi thing more than people realize thus far is the wishes of Nike, which has Yi under a shoe contract for several more years and pushes him as hard in Asia as they push LeBron over here. They wanted him in a big market as much as the Chinese Federation did.
